Canaan (Born Canaan William Edward John Robinson, December 19, 1983) is an American born environmental photographer and visual media artist from the New York City Metropolitan Area. Canaan was born in Livingston, New Jersey and grew up in East Orange, New Jersey. He received his degree in business administration/marketing and pursued many aspects of creative arts.

Canaan found his love for photography with his first Polaroid camera as a adolescent. As a middle child, Canaan spent much of his teen years living within his imagination. If Canaan was not busy with a new art class project, he was on a road trip around The United States, Canada and Mexico.

As a photographer and visual artist, Canaan has a eye for atmospheric details and a love for modern and old art, world cultures and elegance. Canaan has a great love for the environment ranging from the busy cement jungles to the quaint countryside, and all that's in-between.Canaan enjoys capturing candid moments and transforming it into art. In Canaan's pursuit for magazine publishing, he has been published in "Our USA Magazine"; he also aspires to get published in his favorite magazines "National Geographic", "National Geographic Traveler" and "Travel + Leisure".

Some of Canaan's hobbies include: travel, outdoor activities like hiking, fishing and target practice, cinema, painting, reading and writing. Apart from photography, Canaan is also a published author, home decorator and occasional thespian; Canaan currently resides in Cedar Grove, NJ.

In recent years Canaan was also on the Off- Broadway stage in NYC, featured in independent and feature films and even landed a gig as a green singer/dancer in a American Idol/Garnier Fructis TV advertisement circa 2009-2010 American Idol season. Canaan has also published three books including “So... You’re An Actor?! PROVE IT!” , “Actor’s Wallet” and “EYE SEE: N.Y.C.”

Through his life experiences, Canaan found a love for photography and design, the creative side of the entertainment industry and in his spare time, staging upscale homes and travel. Some would consider Canaan a introverted entrepreneur, but in his heart he is only a person pursuing his dreams.
